Your Goals Come First.
Every student is different, and your lessons are built around you. Whether you're starting fresh, returning to the piano, or working toward specific goals, we’ll create a clear, personalized path forward.

Together, you’ll build the skills, confidence, and enjoyment that make music a lasting part of your life.

Lessons For Students of All Ages

Piano Lessons For Adults

Adults often bring a more cerebral approach to the piano, and John loves answering questions, discussing concepts, and more. It is not uncommon that our adult students will disclose that they have a specific deficiency, whether it be reading notes fluently, playing music by ear, or playing the piano without pain or tension. Having encountered it all, we will work together to make you a confident, independent pianist.

Piano Lessons For Children and Teens

The first two years a child spends at the piano are often the most important musical period of his or her life. That’s when we instill fundamental musical knowledge, good technical habits, and the ability to practice effectively and efficiently. We also strive to make lessons fun for kids while always remaining highly constructive. We will cover steps and skips, the musical alphabet, scales and other technical exercises, and we’ll start playing “real music” early in our time together.

Studio Policy Overview

Welcome! My goal is to provide a consistent, encouraging, and professional learning environment for every student. The following policies help ensure steady progress and a smooth experience for all.

Enrollment & Tuition

  • Tuition is $170 per month and remains the same each month regardless of the number of lessons in a given month.

  • Tuition reserves a weekly lesson time and secures the student’s place in the studio.

  • Lessons are scheduled weekly throughout the year, with breaks and major holidays observed as part of the studio calendar.

Weekly Lessons

  • Each student is assigned a consistent weekly day and time.

  • Lessons may be attended:

    • In person, or

    • Remotely (online) at the same scheduled time

Remote Lessons

  • Students may attend lessons remotely at their regular scheduled time if they are unable to attend in person.

  • Remote lessons take place at the same scheduled day and time and are not rescheduled.

  • Remote lessons may include theory, ear training, and other musical concepts when access to an instrument is limited.

  • Families are responsible for ensuring their device and internet connection are working prior to the lesson.

  • If technical issues prevent the lesson, the lesson is considered complete.

  Remote Open Studio:

  • A brief monthly Remote Open Studio is available for families who would like to:

    • Become familiar with the online setup

    • Ask questions

    • Test their connection

  • This session is optional and is not a lesson.

Missed Lessons & Makeups

  • Tuition reserves your time; it is not based on attendance.

  • Missed lessons are not individually rescheduled.

Monthly Makeup Option:

  • One optional group makeup class is offered each month:

    • Held on the first Saturday of the month. In rare cases, the makeup session may be rescheduled, and advance notice will be provided.

    • Covers absences from the previous month

    • Multiple time slots are available; space is limited

    • Registration is required.

  • One makeup per month per student

  • Makeup classes do not carry over to future months

  • Makeup classes are not intended to replicate the missed lesson.

*Teacher Cancellations

  • If the teacher must cancel a lesson, a makeup lesson, remote lesson, or tuition credit will be provided.

Vacations & Absences

  • Tuition remains the same regardless of absences due to travel or scheduling conflicts.

  • Students may:

    • Attend remotely, or

    • Use the monthly makeup class

Studio Calendar

The studio operates on a yearly calendar with scheduled breaks and holidays observed throughout the year.

A full studio calendar is provided in advance so families can plan accordingly.

Getting Started (New Students)

  • New students begin with a complimentary 30-minute evaluation session.

  • During this time, we will:

    • Assess the student’s current level

    • Discuss goals and experience

    • Determine the best approach for lessons

  • If it is a good fit, a weekly lesson time will be reserved and enrollment will begin with monthly tuition.

Additional Opportunities

  • Students may have opportunities throughout the year to participate in activities such as:

    • Recitals

    • Recording sessions

    • Other musical events

  • Participation is optional and will be announced in advance.

Enrollment Changes

  • Lessons are billed monthly and continue on an ongoing basis.

  • A minimum of 30 days’ notice is required to discontinue lessons.

  • Tuition begins when regular lessons begin and continues on a monthly billing cycle from that date.

Our Approach

Consistency is the key to musical progress. These policies are designed to:

  • Encourage regular attendance

  • Support steady improvement

  • Maintain a positive and organized learning environment
